TRANSMISSION SERVICING AND REPAIRS
As part of the assembly that transmits power from the engine to the wheels, your vehicle’s transmission is comprised of some of the most complex and intricate machinery in your entire vehicle. Due to their sophisticated nature, even minor flaws in your transmission can quickly escalate into extremely costly repairs. Common symptoms of issues with your transmission are:
Whining and clunking, or a buzzing noise coming from your transmission
Lack of response: gear change should be instantaneous
Grinding noise or feeling when changing gears
Noisy in neutral
Dashboard lights
Burning smell after a drive
Fluid leaking when the vehicle is parked
If you notice any of the issues above, you probably have an issue with your vehicle’s transmission. Here at Jensen Automotive Service & Repair, our skilled team of mechanics can help you with:
Automatic transmissions
Manual transmissions
Clutches
Servicing
Repair
Differentials
CV Joints
WHY IS TRANSMISSION SERVICING SO IMPORTANT?
Fresh transmission fluid restores the holding power between the clutches, reducing slip and heat production in your transmission. A fluid change also cleans out tiny particles of clutch material and metal shavings that can pollute transmission fluid over time, increasing your vehicle’s wear and tear and reducing its capacity to facilitate the safe operation of your transmission.
With so many small components in the transmission it is imperative that the transmission fluid remains clean and at the correct operating temperature. Any contamination may result in cooler flow blockages. Once any interruption is created to the cooler flow, additional heat is generated within the transmission and so the cycle begins – less flow, more heat, less lubrication – until eventually your transmission breaks down.
Jensen Automotive recommends your vehicle have its transmission services every 2 years or after travelling 50,000km, whichever comes first. The cost of a transmission service is paltry compared to that of an extensive repair job – when it comes to problems in your vehicle’s transmission, prevention is much better than cure.
CLUTCH REPAIRS
Whether you’re getting strange noises when changing gears, or you’re having trouble changing gears at all, the problem might be with your clutch, which acts as a go-between for your transmission and engine. Other symptoms of a failing clutch include:
Lacking acceleration when revving the engine
Engine revs randomly climbing or falling
Clutch slipping, causing a loss of drive
Clutch shuddering on take off
We can service or replace faulty clutches with parts that match manufacturers’ original specifications, ensuring complete satisfaction with your new parts. All of our clutch repairs are covered by a 24-month, 40,000km warranty (excluding 4WD) for additional peace of mind.
